Red Sox, 2011 Collapse

It took no more than 30 seconds for the Red Sox to blow the game and have the Rays walk off with a win over the Yankees to take the Wild Card. Red Sox fans were amazed but after how the rest of the month had gone it’s what was expected. Red Sox players were dropping like flies, we couldn’t hit, couldn’t pitch. Buchholz and Youk had been injured almost all year and our huge payroll hadn’t played out quite as we expected. Even 1978 wasn’t as bad a collapse as this. It felt like each game was waiting for it’s Buckner moment. As the Sox blew the 9th, you could see the Rays wanting it more and more while the Sox seemed to just be alright with where they were. Hell, I could’ve guessed Pap would throw another fastball. It seems the joke of, well there’s always next year has now been placed upon us. Francona has now left the building so we have an offseason of who will be the manager next season and will Epstein stick around. It’s gonna be a long offseason for Sox fans, but luckily we have some Bruins to look forward to…

Mr. Olympia 2011

One relatively unknown event that some may know about and others may not care about is the Mr. Olympia competition, the contest for the best bodybuilder in the world. This 3 days event takes place this year from September 15-18. Now while some may not care and think it's disgusting, we all should be amazed at what these people have done. We can appreciate the hours in the gym, hours concentrating on meals. This is the one sporting event that takes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Some will blame steroids, but taking steroids does nothing without proper training, diet, form, etc. I started weightlifting because of injuries in highschool sports and an Arnold Schwarzenegger Enclyclopedia of Bodybuilding was my exercise guide. I fell in love with weightlifting and trying to build my body up to be stronger and avoid injuries but also for health and to look good. Would I look like Arnold, no. But I could still build a physique I was proud of. Now while the men at this years competition may not be quite what Arnold Schwarzenegger was(they are much bigger now) and relateable in size to what a man could strive to be, it's still an event that should none the less be given credit for the hard work put in. For my audio production class last year, we were given the opening Bank Robbery scene of Batman the Dark Knight with all of the sound stripped off.
